A terry towelling tea towel has a loop-pile construction — the same structure that makes bath towels absorbent — which means it pulls water away from the surface rather than redistributing it. Glasses, cutlery, and ceramics come out dry, not streaky.
These are made from 100% cotton. Cotton loop-pile softens with washing rather than stiffening, which is the opposite of what happens with cotton-polyester blends that feel thin and scratchy after a few cycles. No lint, no fluff on glassware, no threads catching on cutlery.

A terry tea towel uses the same loop-pile weave as a bath towel, rather than the flat weave used in most standard tea towels.
