Really hard to find good quality towelling robes without them being designer with the price tag. Last years from House of Fraser has rotted in 10 months, thin and nasty. I got an S/M for me and a L/XL for my partner. I am a size 8-10, 5'1. My partner is of medium-large build and 6'2. Dressing gowns are perfect sizing, plenty of room to wrap around and long enough to retain the warmth. Arrived earlier than expected and are of a fantastic quality. We are delighted.
Quite a heavy gown quite thick towel material the only negative for me was the carrier who delivered it.
This dressing gown weighs approximately 1500g, which works out to 470GSM. 100% cotton terry towelling, hood, two front pockets, matching belt, three adult sizes, in charcoal.
Who buys this: A common "safe middle ground" pick when buying a gift for someone whose taste you don't know precisely. Charcoal reads as more considered than black, which can feel too stark as a gift, and more distinctive than grey, without risking a shade the recipient wouldn't choose themselves.
Black as a gift can feel too final. Grey can feel like the "didn't want to decide" option. Charcoal sits between the two: dark enough to read as a deliberate choice, without the starkness of true black.
Built to the same spec as the rest of the Egyptian Collection: 470GSM, roughly 300g heavier than our standard terry towelling range, noticeably thicker and warmer as a result. Three adult sizes mean the fit is chosen rather than assumed. The hood adds real practicality too, drying hair, extra warmth on cold mornings, not a decorative add-on.
Worth knowing before ordering: "charcoal" as a colour name covers a fairly wide range in textiles, from a warm dark grey through to something close to black. If exact shade matching matters, against existing towels or décor, a sample is worth requesting first.

This is the one colour whose own draft included a separate Shoulder measurement and a lower S/M chest figure, 52cm against 57cm on the other colourways. Everything else lines up, worth a quick check on that one figure.
