A fire risk assessment that flags the bedding is a bad week for a care home manager. These are made from polyester, which the listing describes as inherently flame retardant, and they are listed to BS 7175 Crib 7. The depth is 23cm (9 inches) and the sizes are Single and Double only, so they suit a standard mattress and not a deep one.
Crib 7 is the level these sheets are listed to under BS 7175, the British Standard test for how bedding behaves when it meets an ignition source. Our waterproof FR duvet protector is listed to Crib 5, a lower level, so check which one your fire risk assessment calls for.
The same eight colours are in the flame retardant pillowcases and flame retardant flat sheets. The flame retardant waterproof bedding range has the protectors. Two customers say the sheets fit well, and one found them thicker than the sheets they used before.

Is there a King size?
No. Single and Double only.
How deep is the pocket?
23cm (9 inches), with elastic in all four corners.
How many sheets can I order?
One sheet, or packs of 5 or 10, with no minimum order. A pack of 10 suits a small care home.
Which colours can I buy?
Eight, the same as the pillowcases: Cream, Dark Green, Light Blue, Light Green, Navy Blue, Pink, White and Wine.
Which level does my care home need?
That is for your fire risk assessment to say. These sheets are listed to Crib 7 and our waterproof FR duvet protector to Crib 5, so read the level your assessment names before you order for a care home, hostel or nursery.
Does the flame retardancy wash out?
The listing says the retardancy is in the fibre and will always remain, so it is not a coating that washes off. If your assessor wants the test report, ring 01204 455755 before you order a pack.
