I have a hooded dressing gown, bought from BHS. Extremely helpful on winter mornings, having to go outside to attend to our rescue animals although in a heated shed, some years ago. The reason I bought another is because I find the hooded dressing gown invaluable, and with winter coming, and trying to find other ways to keep warm, I ordered 2 of these. Excellent, above and beyond expectations. I bought size S/M, I am size 10. This fits well, and is a very good length, My husband is probably size M, and it will fit him too if necessary. The silver grey is actually a nicer colour than expected, and although I also got another in blue. I debated wether to buy these hooded dressing gowns, absoloutely pleased I did. Have washed both of the dressing gowns, and they both washed well. Didn't appear to loose any colour, or shrink. These dressing gowns will go along way to helping us keep warmer this winter. Highly recommended, saw others, but nowhere near the quality of the ones from Towel Shop.

Egyptian Collection Hooded Dressing Gown – 470GSM Terry Towelling
The 470GSM, 100% cotton hooded towelling dressing gown in three adult sizes (S/M, M/L, L/XL), with two front pockets and a matching belt.
Who buys this: Gift buyers mostly, since it sits above the standard range on price and it shows. Also hotels and spas wanting a heavier hooded bathrobe that reads as a step up from ordinary guest-room stock.
Weight is the one number that can't be faked on a dressing gown. Plenty of sites will stick "luxury" on the label and charge more for the same 400GSM robe underneath; this one is actually heavier & luxury , 470GSM, with about 300g more cotton than our standard terry towelling gown. That's not a marketing line, it's the fabric.
You can feel the difference. It's noticeably thicker, holds heat better after a bath or shower, and it's real cotton terry towelling loops throughout rather than a thin outer padded to look substantial. As part of the Egyptian Collection it comes in three adult sizes instead of one generic cut, so a taller frame isn't stretching a "one size" gown and a smaller build isn't drowning in it. The hood does a job most robes skip — drying your hair without reaching for a second towel — and there are two front pockets plus a matching belt.
Supplied as a single item or in packs up to a box of 50, so it works for a personal treat and for restocking guest rooms in one order.

One source, the Charcoal variant, gives S/M chest as 52cm instead of 57cm. Everything else matches across all sources, so this chart's solid — just double-check that one figure.

Tumble dry on low heat
Don't over-dry — it makes the towelling feel stiff

Does the hood actually help, or is it decorative?
Functional. Good for drying hair after a shower and adds warmth on cold mornings.
How does 470GSM compare to a standard towelling robe?
About 70g more fabric per square metre than our standard 400GSM robe — roughly 300g heavier as a garment overall. You'll feel it: thicker in hand, holds more heat.
How do I know which size to pick?
Use the chart above. As a rough guide, go by your usual robe size rather than your clothing size — the cut runs generous.

Is it colourfast, and how should I wash it?
40°C or cooler, similar colours, no softener or bleach, tumble dry on low. Do that and the colour and the towelling loops both hold up over years of washing, not just months.
