Two face cloths can both say 700 GSM. One uses standard single yarn. One uses double yarn — two yarns twisted together before weaving. The pile density is different. The way it holds up after fifty washes is different. The weight on the label doesn't tell you which one you're buying.
These are double yarn. That's a specific construction method — not a marketing term — where two yarns are twisted together to produce a denser, heavier pile per square centimetre. At 700 GSM, this gives you the thickest face cloth in the Royal Egyptian range: maximum pile depth, maximum absorbency, and a construction that holds its weight through commercial wash cycles rather than thinning after a few months.
Double yarn, 100% cotton, 700 GSM. The double yarn method produces a pile that's noticeably denser than standard single-yarn 700 GSM cloths. This density is what makes the weight feel genuine rather than loose — the difference between a cloth that holds its thickness after a year of washing and one that's visibly thinner after three months. At 33 × 33 cm, these are also slightly larger than our standard face cloths, giving more surface coverage per use.

Wash at 40°C. The double yarn construction handles regular domestic washing well. No fabric softener — it progressively reduces absorbency by coating the fibres. Tumble dry on low or air dry. At this weight, air drying takes longer than lighter cloths — factor this in if you're using one cloth daily without rotating.

What is double yarn construction and why does it matter?
Double yarn means two yarns are twisted together before weaving, rather than a single yarn. This produces a denser pile per square centimetre — more fibre in the same space. At 700 GSM, double yarn construction gives you a cloth that holds its pile density through repeated washing, rather than thinning as the single yarn degrades. It's the reason these feel genuinely thick after a year of use, not just on the first wash.
How do these compare to a standard 700 GSM face cloth?
Standard 700 GSM uses a single yarn, which can produce a looser pile that feels thick initially but gradually thins. Double yarn produces a denser, more resilient pile. After twenty to thirty wash cycles, the difference is clearly visible — the double yarn cloth holds its structure, the standard one doesn't. The GSM number alone doesn't tell you the construction.
Are these suitable for Egyptian cotton face cloth searches?
These are 100% cotton with a double yarn construction. Egyptian cotton refers to long-staple cotton fibre grown in Egypt — our Royal Egyptian range uses this designation for the weight and construction tier, not a fibre origin claim. Are these suitable for hotels?

What size are these?
33 × 33 cm — slightly larger than our standard 30 × 30 cm face cloths. This gives more surface coverage and makes them suitable for use as a generous flannel as well as a drying cloth.
