Feel very soft, but some snags on a few of them. Also can’t understand why each towel had a big card stuck to it with bits of plastic which meant spending time getting them off, risk further snags, and hunting for the bits of plastic that I didn’t manage to catch and went flying. Such a waste of time and resources putting them on only for customers having to take them off.

A damp cotton face cloth left between uses accumulates bacteria. It dries slowly, and the warmth and moisture create conditions where bacteria multiply quickly. Bamboo fibres contain bamboo kun — a naturally occurring compound that inhibits bacterial growth. It doesn't eliminate bacteria, but it slows the process significantly compared to cotton. These are 700 GSM, 50% bamboo 50% cotton, GOTS certified — meaning certified organic fibres and responsible manufacturing, not just a label. The bamboo fibres are smooth and round in cross-section, which means less mechanical friction against skin compared to cotton. At 700 GSM, the pile is dense enough to be effective for cleansing and makeup removal while remaining soft at fibre level.

The bamboo kun compound in bamboo fibre inhibits bacterial growth — this is a genuine property, not a marketing claim. The effect is reduced but not eliminated when bamboo is processed into fabric. It means the cloth stays fresher between washes compared to cotton, which has no equivalent natural antibacterial property. For daily use face cloths that sit damp between morning and evening, this matters.

If rough patches develop on a bamboo cloth, they're almost always from fabric softener or hard water residue rather than fibre damage — a hot wash with white vinegar (no detergent) usually restores softness.
