The problem with most face cloths at this price point isn't the GSM — it's the yarn. Open-end spun cotton produces a coarser yarn with loose fibre ends that shed with every wash. After ten cycles, the cloth that felt soft on day one starts to feel rough. These are different: 100% ring-spun cotton, which means the fibres are twisted tighter before weaving. The pile stays denser. The softness holds.
At 500 GSM, this is the most practical weight for daily home use — enough pile for effective facial cleansing and makeup removal, fast enough to dry between morning and evening. Available in 19 colours including white, cream, navy, royal blue, wine, dark green, black, and more — making it straightforward to coordinate with any bathroom.
100% ring-spun carded cotton at 500 GSM. The ring-spinning process twists fibres under tension, producing a smoother, tighter yarn than the open-end alternatives used in most budget face cloths. The result is consistent softness and absorbency that holds through repeated washing — which is why this cloth is used across hotels, guest houses, and spas as well as in domestic bathrooms. OekoTex Standard 100 certified — tested and confirmed free from harmful substances.
If you're looking for heavier towel, check out our 600 GSM Royal Egyptian collection.
Daily facial cleansing, makeup removal, skincare routines, guest bathrooms. Suitable for home use and commercial settings. The ring-spun construction handles machine washing at 40°C without pile degradation — for higher-temperature commercial cycles, the 400 GSM institutional range is the better choice.
Size: 30 × 30 cm | Weight: 500 GSM | Material: 100% ring-spun cotton | Certification: OekoTex Standard 100 | Machine washable at 40°C | 19 colours available
Wash at 40°C. No fabric softener — it coats the fibres and reduces absorbency over time. Tumble dry on low or air dry. Avoid bleach on coloured cloths.
Available as part of the full 500 GSM Royal Egyptian range — hand towels, bath towels, and bath sheets in matching colours. For help choosing the right GSM for your use case, our face cloth buying guide covers every weight and skin type.
What makes ring-spun cotton better than standard cotton?
Ring-spun cotton is spun under tension, which twists the fibres tighter together and produces a smoother, more durable yarn. Open-end spun cotton — the default in budget face cloths — has looser fibre ends that break away during washing. After ten to fifteen cycles, open-end cloths thin and roughen. Ring-spun holds its pile density and softness for significantly longer. The difference is most visible after repeated washing, not on day one.
Is 500 GSM suitable for hotels and commercial use?
Yes, for mid-range hospitality and guest house use. The ring-spun construction handles commercial washing well. For high-turnover properties running laundry at 60°C or above multiple times daily, the 400 GSM institutional range is more cost-effective — it's built specifically for that environment. For hotels where guest experience matters more than laundry economics, 500 GSM is the right weight.
How many colours are available?
19 colours: white, cream, sky blue, aqua mint, peach, pink, rose, camel, grey, kingfisher, duck egg blue, aubergine, royal blue, navy blue, red, wine, black, dark green, and dark brown. White cloths are supplied without a double border across the middle.
Do they stay soft after repeated washing?
Yes — the ring-spun construction is specifically why. Softness degradation in face cloths is almost always a yarn issue, not a GSM issue. Ring-spun cotton holds its pile density through repeated washing at 40°C. Avoid fabric softener, which coats the fibres and progressively reduces absorbency.
What's the difference between this and the 600 GSM Royal Egyptian?
Weight and pile depth. The 600 GSM is noticeably thicker and takes slightly longer to dry. For daily home use with two or three cloths in rotation, 500 GSM is the more practical choice. For a spa-style experience or where drying time isn't a constraint, step up to 600 GSM.
Please note: White face cloths are mostly available without a double border across the middle.
