I am a machine embroiderer for a living and embroider sports towels. A lot of the towels now do not have a very wide strip at the bottom for more than 2 lines of embroidery and these towels are super because they don't have a line on them at all making my job a lot easier and looks better because it is not squashed up.

Why does ring-spun cotton outperform open-end yarn at the same GSM?
Open-end spinning is faster and cheaper — short and long fibres are spun together without the combing stage that ring-spun uses. That means more loose ends in the yarn, which leads to pilling, shedding, and faster thinning. Ring-spun yarn is more tightly constructed from longer fibres only, which is why towels made from it hold their weight and softness for longer, particularly under commercial washing conditions.
