Going lighter on GSM to save money only works out if the construction underneath is still right — a cheap 400 GSM towel with open-end yarn thins out fast and ends up costing more in early replacement than it saved on the unit price. Ours is 400 GSM ring spun carded cotton, the same construction as our heavier institutional ranges, just at a lighter weight built specifically for fast turnaround.
Ring spinning combs and aligns the fibres before twisting them into yarn, producing a smoother, stronger thread than open-end spinning — which is what lets a lighter towel still hold up to commercial laundering rather than being a false economy.
