Pillowcase: 48×74cm · Material: 50% cotton / 50% polyester, 144 thread count (68 pick) · valance sheets woven separately at 56 pick |
"Is 144 thread count actually any good?" is a fair question to ask before buying — a low number on a bedsheet sounds like a downgrade if you're used to seeing 300 and 400 quoted for premium ranges.
Thread count alone is a poor way to judge polycotton — the pick (how tightly woven the yarn is) matters more than the raw thread number, and 68 pick is a genuinely dense weave for this fabric type. It's built to survive frequent washing at commercial temperatures, which a higher-thread-count cotton sheet not designed for that cycle will not do as well.

The standard choice for hotels, care homes, and student accommodation replacing bedding on a rolling basis — built to be washed hot, often, and to keep performing rather than to look the softest on day one. See the full bedding range for softer, home-focused options if institutional durability isn't the priority.
Machine washable, suitable for high-temperature institutional laundering
Tumble dry
Envelope-style opening, no buttons to catch or break in commercial machines
Is 144 thread count good for bedsheets?
For everyday and institutional use, yes — thread count matters less than construction here, and 68 pick is a solid weave for a polycotton blend. It's not built to compete with 400TC cotton sateen on softness, and isn't trying to.
What does 144 thread count actually mean?
It's the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric. At this fabric type and pick density, it delivers durability for frequent washing rather than the softest possible hand-feel.
Why does the fitted sheet say 9" depth when your other ranges go up to 16"?
This range is built for standard-depth mattresses. If you have a deep or pillow-top mattress, our 200TC extra deep fitted sheet fits up to 16".
Can I order this in bulk for a care home or hostel?
Yes, packs are available and larger quantities can be quoted — call 01204 455755.
Why are the valance sheets a different pick count to the rest of the range?
Valance fabric is woven separately at 56 pick — this is standard across the industry since valances see less wear than fitted and flat sheets, and doesn't affect how it matches the rest of the set.
